While this may of happened before, I'm not aware of NASA ever ordering their people to not comment on a Hollywood film.
That is exactly what they did in the case of this one (The Day After Tomorrow).
Human activity is causing global warming.
Global warming is occurring, just as it has numerous times in the history of this planet.
The last "Ice Age" was 10,000 years ago.
About 3,600 years ago.
A scene in the natural history museum showing a mounted Mastodon that " died 10,000 years ago, flash frozen while eating. It had food in it's mouth and stomach at death."
That mastodon died 3,600 years ago, flash frozen while eating tropical plant life. It was flash frozen so fast that it's eyeballs did not have time to deteriorate. Flash frozen so quickly that the meat was fresh enough to be carved up and sold for human consumption in Russian markets. Yes, there were hundreds of these animals frozen in a similar manner.
In case the above isn't clear: Siberia went from being a tropical climate to what is now in no more than a few hours! No, it wasn't 10,000 years ago. It was 3,600 years ago ( at the same time of Moses passage out of Egypt).
Oh yes, If you go to Northern Alaska or Canada and dig thru the Permafrost, you find tropical plants.
I know some well-educated people that are baffled by the concept of "global warming" causing an "ice age".
The "ice" is from precipitation falling from the sky and freezing. The drastic increase in precipitation is caused by warmer temperatures in/over the oceans. It takes an incredible increase in temperature to get that much water in the sky, to fall back to earth, as precipitation.
No, it's not your SUV. It's the combination of our interaction with the Sun and another planet- sized object.

Finally, the American Library Association says that 1.5% of American adults both have a library card and actually use it for other than light entertainment reading. My opinion is that the U.S. Gov. ordered NASA not to comment because they don't want this 1.5% to do independent research and determine the truth about "global warming".
